Price / performance ratio is not right. Too little quality is offered for the price

.This little place is perfect for a romantic dinner. The oysters were very good and food as well. Tasting menu had very unique options.

Great wine selection, bewildering menu, especially when not all the choices are available, accessible only thru smart phone, felt sorry for the staff having to explain the concept, high quality ingredients spoiled by over complicated flavours and those ubiquitous sweet blobs, although you could just have champagne and oysters

Not an insider tip for a long time, but the Carmagnole is an absolute top recommendation for a romantic evening for two with excellent food and good wine. Reservation is advisable.

Price performance does not fit. The same quality is available elsewhere for half the price.

Outstanding. The menu as well as the drinks and the service. I still fondly remember the main course a month later. Everything to the point and creatively implemented. Will be back soon.

The Carmagnole is a great place to eat. Starting with the extremely friendly and unobtrusive reception, through the waiter to the mouth-watering sensational taste experience. The 4-course menu is well put together. Tip: look at the menu on the half board and then there is really only one thing left to do - reserve a table, go there and convince yourself. My French mother, gifted cook and winegrower daughter from Burgundy, was there and as enthusiastic as my wife and I. THAT’s supposed to mean something ... Chapeau The dinner mentioned by others as a compulsory menu is well balanced for the price. We remember: the boys and girls didn't earn anything for months and now have a maximum occupancy of 40% -50%. It is understandable that in its current form this is compensated for by the price. Hey - we haven’t been eating for a long time and should have saved a little FOR ?!

Switching to the compulsory menu at 45 € / 3-course menu is a shame. Just a main course with fish / meat with no selection either. It used to be better ...

Nice ambience, professional service. But completely overpriced. The 4-course menu (3 courses plus sorbet in between) for 45 euros. Material value not 10 euros, rather 5 euros. Main course a quarter of pointed cabbage on lentils and croutons. Dessert one !! small piece of cheese with cranberry compote. As a main course, ribs etc. which I don't like (my problem) and only the vegetarian dish with the pointed cabbage. Vienna, Cox, Phillips everything cheaper and significantly better. A pity

For me personally one of the most delicious restaurants I have eaten so far. It was a taste explosion .... Bistro with a charming atmosphere and great service. Everything at a high level, yet relaxed atmosphere without stiffness. I find prices rather cheap for the level.

Great cook, delicious especially nicely prepared dishes, friendly and courteous staff. The volume in the Séparé is unbearable when the room is full, but for me personally it is not a knockout. Criterion and no minus point.

The restaurant was recommended to me by the owner of the Mabou in Istanbul. In fact, similarly good cuisine and great variety in the menu. Very good value for money for the menu and its quality. Despite small mistakes (starter was there before the drinks) the food was rounded off by the nice service. Would love to come back.

A good place. Unfortunately, when I visited the place, I did not have much time, otherwise I would taste much more. Our waitress was lovely and patiently explained about the menu and the products on the menu. We ordered: Oyster CHIFFONADE OF BAYONNE-HAMKING Simple and delicious! Meat that just melts in your mouth. STEAK TATARE A classic tartar. The meat is fresh. Wonderful dish. On my next visit to Hamburg, I will definitely be back to taste more dishes :)

Good food N stuff

Great French-inspired food in a nice setting below street level. They understand gluten-free and serve accordingly.

Very cozy French bistro. The service is wonderfully relaxed, despite the fully staffed restaurant, absolutely relaxed, attentive and friendly. The menu is small, with authentic treats from French cuisine. The wine list offers a tasteful variety, and there are really exciting cocktails to be found on the menu. The Bistro Carmagnole is ideal for a cozy meal with friends or a romantic dinner for two. We recommend.

We reserved a table online, requested a table outside. When we arrived, they stated that they don't accept reservations for outside (no mention of this rule on their website). We were put on a waiting list for an outside table, leaving our contact number. Basically, they kept seating people off the street without calling us. We waiting 2.5hrs for a table which we never got. The wait staff said 'if people come in off the street and take a seat at an empty table... there is nothing they can they do.' Which is fine, just don't have a waiting list. Really poor customer service, and unnecessarily more difficult than necessary.

Unfortunately the quality of the food does not match the amount of the prices. The dishes were nice, but a bit disappointing. The place is informal with a casual atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. We could choose a table in the second inner room, where it was a little quieter. My tartar was simple minced meat and unfortunately my entrecôte too much to order. The selection of champagne / wines is a bit smaller than expected and the champagne we did not find cool enough. In the end we tried a Moscow Mule and it was not really delicious. Overall impression: okay, but I'm afraid we will not be back here. With three stars my rating is even generous.

Authentic little French restaurant with small, changing menu.

A lovely place, great food, wine and a cozy atmosphere. One of my favorite places in Hamburg

Good wine, mediocre food, unprofessional, sloppy service. Definitely quality wine, the cheese plate was great. Then we ordered the the vegetarian tajin and merguez sausage which both was cooked from a skilled chef and decent ingredients. Just the kick, the love was a bit missing in the dishes. The whole experience was spoiled by really sloppy service. Just not friendly and attentive, escalating when the waitress was asking us how much tip we want to give while paying, haha. Credits to one of the 4 waiters who came to our table, German speaking with French accent. Only person who knows how to provide good service. Train the others!:) But we also noticed that the overall service quality in Hamburg is just not high.

Fancy kitchen. Delicious. Small, cozy, somewhat hidden restaurant. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

No reservations and you may end up waiting loooong times – there's no bar really that you can wait at so you need to go to one next door. But the food is really good. The rillettes was not as creamy as expected but certainly well done. The tartare with a quail egg had a great texture and was perfectly seasoned. Fine de Claire oysters were a solid choice.

Nice Bistro with decent menu but limited breakfast options. Still a great place to hang.

Croque Monsieur was really good and reasonably priced!
